Security Operatives apprehends motorcycle operators flouting suspension order

May 10
11:46 2020
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has directed security operatives to apprehend Motorcycle operators caught
flouting the suspension order in the state and their Motorcycle confiscated.
Speaking during his eleventh COVID-19 live update, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also decried the low level of compliance by Commercial Bus operators, ‘Yellow Buses’, low compliance at inter-state border, especially on Lagos- Ibadan.
Expressway, days after the gradual easing of the lockdown in the state.
Sanwo-Olu said the state will be introducing community management of cases, by accrediting and incorporating primary health care facilities and private healthcare facilities for the management of mild-to-moderate cases of COVID-19 patients.
According to him, combined laboratory capacity is at about eight hundred and fifty tests daily, which is easily scalable to one thousand, five hundred and two thousand subject to the availability of extraction kits considering the acute global shortage.
He said Lagos State has paid for over twenty thousand extraction kits and has placed an order for another twenty thousand in its bid to test at least one hundred and twenty thousand in the next sixty days, while fifty per cent of the backlog, of tests have been cleared, which is also responsible for the recent seemingly high rate of positive cases in the last couple of days.
Meanwhile, the Lagos state Government is set to create an Emergency Response Digital Platform for data collection and
prompt decision making.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu, who made this known while briefing newsmen on the appraisal of the first week of easing lockdown in the State, commended all the Frontline health workers for championing the course against COVID19.
He stated that the data gathered and the safety of Lagosians will continue to be the prime determinants of decision making.
Reacting to the projection of having as many as one hundred and twenty thousand confirmed cases by July, he said the only way to ensure it does not become a reality is by ensuring a modified behaviour towards greater compliance and discipline.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said government will not hesitate to review the terms of easing the lockdown, if there is continued evidence that Lagosians are determined to flout the rules
