Lagos Traffic Radio (LTR) is set to engage stakeholders more in its continued effort to ensure effective service delivery in traffic management, providing timely traffic updates for motorists across Lagos and environs.

General Manager, Lagos Traffic Radio, Mr. Tayo Akanle stated this at a meeting with officials from the Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI) to review and evaluate reform initiatives of LTR to ensure alignment with the Lagos State Government’s Transformation Agenda and to track measurable progress under the reform framework for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The meeting, held at the instance of the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, was necessary to review the Reform Programmes carried out by the Organisation from Y2020 to date in line with the Lagos State Government’s directive to MDAs on the Tracking and Evaluation of Government Reform Programmes.

Akanle said stakeholders, comprising traffic-related agencies, callers, listeners and other resource persons, are key in the activities of the station as their contributions have been helpful in the operations of the organisation.

He said, ”Stakeholders are relevant to what we do and I believe strongly that they can help us to push more in our delivery as we continue to establish more relationships. Agencies like LASTMA, FRSC, and TRACE have been helping us to run the business and further enhance our operations”.

Deputy Director, Programmes, Mr. Victor Oteri reeled out the Organisation’s Reform Programmes from Y2020, ranging from LTR Lecture Series – A platform for public enlightenment and knowledge sharing on transportation and traffic management, Introduction of Live Motorbike Report/Camera Incident Report for Real-time traffic reporting and incident updates via on-ground motorbike reporters and live camera coverage, Live Camera Feed Integration via the Ministry of Science and Technology – Integration of live traffic camera feeds to enhance traffic monitoring and reporting, Establishment of Booster Stations in Ikorodu, Badagry, and Epe for Expansion of radio coverage for wider traffic information dissemination, Civic Engagement and Advocacy to Strengthen public involvement through community outreach, advocacy, and citizen engagement programmes.

Team lead of the OTCI, Mr. Adeyemi Otunuyi commended the station for the laudable initiatives which have helped in driving the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda of Lagos State.

Otunuyi highlighted several salient points from reform submissions, emphasising the need for Impact Assessment of all programmes to measure their effectiveness and relevance, stressing the importance of a Performance Assessment and Appraisal Framework for individuals and teams that initiated and executed the reforms.

He reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to innovation, transparency, and improved public service delivery through these reform initiatives.

Stakeholders at the meeting, who lauded the contributions of LTR in traffic management, timely, reliable, accurate, dynamic, innovative and objective traffic updates pledged continued collaboration to support programme implementation.

The meeting was attended by the Board/Management of LTR, Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI), Director, Public Affairs, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Segun Ogundeji, representatives from the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, TRACE, Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Drivers Institute (LASDRI) and Radio Callers Association.
